Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Enquiry and contact forms — your name, email address, telephone number and the content of your message.
- Class and event registration — the name of the student, a contact name and details, and any information you choose to tell us about learning needs or accessibility requirements.
- Matrimonial service — where you use this service you provide personal details about yourself and your family. This is handled separately and confidentially, and is shared only with your knowledge.
- Requests for community support — information you share with us in order for us to help, which may include details of your circumstances.
Information collected automatically
- Your IP address, browser type and version, device type and operating system.
- The pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and the page or search that referred you.
- Information stored in cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy.
Photographs and recordings
We take photographs and video at some gatherings and classes and publish a selection in our gallery. If you appear in an image on this website and would like it removed, email info@bkmcommunity.com and we will remove it. We do not require you to give a reason.

This is statistical; we do not use it to identify you personally. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
We share it only with:
- Our website host and email provider, who store the data on our behalf.
- Google, for analytics and, where enabled, advertising.
- Teachers and volunteers within the organisation, limited to what they need in order to run a class or provide the support you asked for.
- Anyone we are legally required to share it with, for example where there is a safeguarding concern or a legal obligation.
Some of these providers are based outside the United Kingdom. Where information is transferred abroad we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.
How Long We Keep It
- Enquiries: up to two years from your last contact with us.
- Class records: for as long as the student is enrolled, and up to three years afterwards.
- Matrimonial records: until you ask us to remove them, or until the service is no longer being used.
- Support requests: only as long as needed, unless we are required to keep a record.
- Analytics data: in line with the retention period set in Google Analytics.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- ask us to delete information;
- ask us to restrict how we use it;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- ask for your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
We run classes and activities for children. Where a child is under 13 we take instructions from a parent or guardian, and we do not knowingly collect a child’s personal information through this website without that involvement. A parent or guardian may ask us at any time to see, correct or delete information about their child, or to remove a photograph.
Security
This website is served over HTTPS. Access to the systems holding personal information is limited to those who need it. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us and to keep our software up to date.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top will tell you when it was last revised. If we begin using your information in a materially different way, we will make that clear.
