About These Photographs
These are photographs from BKM Community Group’s gatherings and programmes in Manchester — Milad and naat evenings, Giyarhwin Sharif, Ramadan iftars, classes, and the ordinary weeks in between.
We keep them here for a simple reason. A community organisation is easy to describe in the abstract and hard to picture. These show what actually happens in the hall on a Thursday evening: rows of chairs, food handed round, children running where they should not be running, and a room full of people who mostly know each other.
What You Will See
- Milad and naat gatherings — the annual programme through Rabi al-Awwal, and naat evenings held through the year
- Giyarhwin Sharif — the Urs of Ghawth al-Azam
- Ramadan — community iftars and Taraweeh
- Classes — Quran, Tajweed, Arabic and Urdu sessions
- Community occasions — shared meals, distributions and volunteer work
Coming to an Event
Everyone is welcome at our gatherings and there is no charge to attend. Most are held at the Qadria Jilania Islamic Centre, St John’s Road, Longsight, Manchester M13 0NS, though some take place at our Hemmons Road address instead. Religious dates also move with the moon, so it is worth confirming before you travel.
